ABOUT THE IMF/WORLD BANK CONSTITUENCY

Annually, the IMF/World Bank Constituency meeting brings together senior representatives from the 16 member countries responsible for public finance and monetary policy, and representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG). It represents an example of tight and fruitful international cooperation within a diverse group of countries which manifest a strong interest in global financial stability and progress.

IMF/WBG Constituency meeting aims at discussing general global economic developments, regional challenges, as well as the challenges Constituency member countries are facing. Also, it provides a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas, as well as learning the IMF and the WBG policies and programs. This meeting serves as a unique opportunity for Governors and Ministers in IMF-WBG Constituency to discuss current policy challenges as well as to engage in bilateral dialogues.

The central topic of the 2024 IMF/WBG Constituency meeting agenda is „Ensuring Vigorous Growth in a Volatile and Uncertain Environment” and discussions will revolve around “Private capital mobilization” and “Opportunity for innovation and AI - driven growth”. 

The National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova will host the 2024 IMF/WBG Constituency meeting. For the Republic of Moldova, this event is of major importance since it is an opportunity to raise awareness about the current economic situation within the country as well as to present our beautiful landscape and rich culture.

Republic of Moldova is a member of the IMF/World Bank Dutch-Belgian Constituency which includes 16 member countries.

A total of about one hundred representatives will participate in the event, including senior officials of the IMF and the WBG, as well as finance ministers and governors or vice-governors of central banks and other delegates of central banks and ministries of finance from the member countries of this Constituency.

BRIEF HISTORY

On August 12, 1992 Republic of Moldova became a member of the Netherlands Constituency and since 2012 the Constituency Transitioned to be Netherlands-Belgium Constituency. IMF/World Bank Constituency meetings are organized annually beginning in1995. For the first time, the Republic of Moldova hosted this meeting in 2007. PREPARATIONS

 

Extensive preparations are underway in advance of the 2024 IMF/World Bank Constituency meeting, including discussions with all participating states, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

LOCATION

The 2024 IMF/WBG Constituency meeting will take place in Chisinau, at the Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel. It is located about 13 km from Chisinau International airport, in the center of the Moldovan capital.

Chisinau is a compact, highly walkable city, which makes the meeting venue the ideal base to explore downtown, the Nativity Cathedral, the Triumphal Arch, as well as a good starting point for the discovery of Moldova’s scenic countryside and world-renowned wineries.
